This colonial style hundred year old homestead features 4 unique bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom, which serve as a sanctuary for the weary traveller. From distressed walls to parquet and Oregon pine floorboards, the echoes of a bygone era transcend the home. Antique wall sconces, brass lanterns and chandeliers softly illuminate, while furnishings are a delicate reflection of comfort and erstwhile style.

Halkett Country House is available for day-time luncheons and private parties. Minimum of 6 adults, maximum of 24 persons. Up to 8 adults may be accommodated in Halkett Country House - rustic overnight accommodation may be sourced for visitors on-site within 1km all further overnight accommodation to be sourced on neighbouring farms. Summertime, guests may relax poolside or on a shaded veranda, looking onto unspoilt bushveld with bush sounds and birdsong accompaniments. Bird-watching is prolific from the verandas by day whilst jackals call at night.
A communal sitting room, lined with volumes of books, exudes a by-gone era in which to enjoy a log fire on a wintry night.

This is a bushveld area and we are currently without cell phone reception. We are not suited to commuters or business persons requiring consistent access to internetcell phone reception.

The Arend Dieperink Museum, located in Potgietersrus (Mokopane) portrays the history of the town, from the ape-man at Makapansgat, bushman drawings and early activities in the area up to the Anglo Boer War and recent happenings and it is worthwhile spending 1-2 hours looking in here.
Nylsvley Nature Reserve is a RAMSAR recognised Birding Conservancy and is approx. 1 hour from us. We will gladly organize a day trip, complete with picnic for keen birders. Best viewed during the summer months, Nylsvley hosts a number of bird species, particularly of the wetland variety. The food will cost no extra but transportation and entry fees will be charged typically per person per trip.
A Big 5 Game Reserve is 20 minutes drive away and with notice we can organize drives for you and your party to seek white rhino, giraffe, elephant, lion and leopard. Drives are usually charged per person, prices may change.
Spa facilities, golfing, 4x4 trails and more are also available in the local area. Please advise us prior to arrival if you have specific interests and we will find out what is possible during your visit.
