Nestled close to the famous Paarl Rock!, in a quiet location in the heart of Paarl's oldest and most established suburban area, lies Pontac Manor Hotel & Restaurant.
Pontac Manor was formerly the manor house on Pontac Estate, a wine estate founded in 1723 by Pierre Labuschagne and named after his town of origin in the south of France.
Now restored to its former elegance, this Victorian manor welcomes guests from around the globe to enjoy the hospitality for which the Boland region is renowned. Set amidst a large, sculpted garden with pool, the property is delightfully decorated with a charming eclectic mix of antique furniture and interesting African artifacts. Historic features in architecture and furnishings add charm and a sense of nostalgia for days gone by.
Decorated in individually selected fabrics of the finest quality, the nine rooms in the Manor House are a living statement of simple elegance. The Cellar Annexe includes five double-rooms with self-catering facilities, furnished in colonial style light woods and pastel shades, with Spanish Reed ceilings.
The Honeymoon Suite offers luxury in a romantic setting with king-size bed, jacuzzi spa bath and private courtyard. The manor house has two comfortable lounges, furnished with plump sofas and armchairs that invite one to lean back and relax in an intimate and homely, yet luxurious atmosphere.
Furnished in warm woods, muted earth-shades and with African artifacts, the bar lounge features a huge indoor fireplace, ideal for cosy winter evenings by the fire-side. On the wide Victorian veranda, guests can sip a sun-downer whilst savouring the magnificent view over the valley to the mountains beyond or enjoy the tranquillity of the gardens where squirrels hop amongst the oak trees and the duck family waddles by.
Leading off from the bar, in the rear of the hotel, the paved courtyard with its majestic oak tree and old stone fountain is a tranquil oasis. On warm summer days, when the cool, refreshing waters of the swimming pool beckon, guests can bask in the sun by the poolside on a reclining chair or under the shade of a broad canvas umbrella.
