Where the bush meets the beach Africa's Call represents stunning accommodation in a magnificent thatched homestead in one of the most spectacular resorts in Africa. Just 150m from the lodge and you are greeted by the vast expanse (4km) of the sun-bleached Robberg beach, framed by the magical Outeniqua Mountains.
As you enter Africa's Call you will be surrounded by open plan thatched architecture and triple height ceilings. Beautiful indigenous wood and exposed beams, mahogany in colour and grand in depth and height, are all visible and support the thatched roof. Not only does this style of architecture echo the theme of stylish safari or bush lodge, it also allows one to hear the waves, crashing onto the beach from all rooms in the house.
A sweeping staircase will lead your eye to the mezzanine level with a further sitting area complete with full entertainment facilities. Enjoy a cool beer, bottle of champagne, or the fruits of the Stellenbosch wine region from our well stocked bar. Our bar stools are made from Gemsbok horns and nguni hide, which resonate our African theme.
A Boma is a thatched outdoor area. Typically found in safari or 'bush' camps the boma was designed to provide protection from wild animals. The only protection required in Plettenberg Bay is the valuable shade from the South African sun. Complete with its very own stream, bougainvillea and dedicated barbeque area, our impressive Boma provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy breakfast, fine dining (on request) or a bottle of South African wine.
