Sandybanks was designed around the concept of a contemporary boathouse in perfect keeping with its waterfront position on Knysna Lagoon. The house is modern, yet has a wonderfully relaxed feeling about it, through its extensive use of oak and ash woods. It is spacious, but not overwhelming, and whilst it is generally open plan, a second lounge offers the possibility of a little quiet time. Folding sliding doors allow the living areas to extend outside to take full advantage of the magnificent views back to Knysna Town and the Quays.
Sandybanks is situated on Thesen Island. Thesen Island is private and secure, and offers a safe and relaxed environment. Although walking distance from town, one need not leave the island (90 Ha) as it offers a variety of shops, coffee shops and restaurants. In addition, there are tennis and squash courts, cycling routes and beautiful walking paths on the island with 11 hectares of natural parkland boasting an abundance of bird life. It has its own private beaches as well as slipways for the launching of boats, and waterways to explore. It provides a perfect central location to explore the Knysna area and its world class golf courses.
The house offers flexible self catering accommodation for 2 - 8 guests. There is a 3 bedroom boathouse sleeping 6 and a one bedroom boathouse sleeping 2, which can be combined seamlessly into a single unit sleeping 8. Both units are fully equipped and offer luxury accommodation. All linen and bath towels are provided and guests just need to bring beach towels. The units are non smoking and pets are not allowed.

The 3 bedroom unit is modern and stylish with an open plan living area that opens out onto a large deck directly overlooking the lagoon. The kitchen is spacious and airy, with an islandbreakfast bar in the center. Off to the side is the dining area which overlooks the swimming pool to one side, and opens out into the central courtyard on the other. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom with bath and shower and a balcony overlooking the lagoon. There are two other bedrooms and a family bathroom also with bath and shower. Outside there are decks for Al fresco dining and a salt chlorinated swimming pool.

The 1 bedroom unit is one of the nicest you are likely to find in Knysna. It is extremely spacious and also has wonderful views across the lagoon. It has its own lounge with wood burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen, and a separate dining area. Upstairs there is a spacious bedroom with twin beds, a balcony overlooking the lagoon, and a luxury en suite with bath, shower, and double vanity. Outside there is a deck and swimming pool.
