The structure maintains the original architecture of grandeur and clean lines, while the décor finds the balance of paying homage to history with a modern flair. The space, with its neutral décor balanced with a warm and welcoming ambiance, creates a canvas, which allows for potential transformation catering to everyone’s personal palate, as well as decorative palette, according to each individual function’s requirements.

About the Venue

The foundation stone of the building, that was the catalyst for what is now called The Greenside, was laid in 1946. The original architecture lends itself to a sense of grandeur, which has been highlighted to an even greater extent since its renovations in 2010. The décor strikes a perfect balance of classic design with contemporary twists which permeate throughout the space, remaining subtle enough to design and accent according to a particular event, as well as to one’s personal taste.

This venue is sure to make an impact with its more than generous settings, including an eight hundred square metre expanse of warm wooden floored hall which can seat up to 450 people, including a dance floor, double-volume ceiling and walls punctuated with pillared buttresses adorned with impressive yet unimposing taupe Belgian floor to ceiling drapes. A stage, complete with Bechstein baby grand piano and front folding staircase add a touch of class and charm that no other venue can muster.

Two large terrace balconies on either side of the hall are defining features, lending versatility of utilisation of space, whether it is significantly opening up the space by creating extensions of the main hall, creating serving or buffet areas, coffee and cocktail verandas with tables and chairs, or simply leisure areas to take advantage of the fresh air.

A welcoming foyer, spacious powder rooms, and a secure parking lot, all surrounded by luscious gardens accented with park benches and Victorian lanterns perched along the walls, allow for multiple options of functionality and liberty of space.

Impressive events call for impressive acoustics, which is yet another outstanding feature of The Greenside, whose original design incorporated acoustic panels for superb sound. Whether a band is playing on stage at a wedding or a corporate mogul is giving a speech, the acoustics of the venue carry the sound equally impressively, resonating throughout the large space.

More unique, original decorative elements such as three large and very striking gothic inspired chandeliers remain, with just a slick of paint to bring them back to life. Delicately carved panels inspired by the months of the year decorate either side of the stage, remaining subtle, but apt for a venue that is suited to functions all year round.

Bar Services

A cash bar is available on request. The bar is to be based on consumption or limit as arranged. Corkage is payable by prior arrangement with management only.

Bar prices and wines are subject to change, and will be charged for at the current price list available prior to your function. All wines are subject to availability.

For corporate events and functions requiring that extra “zing” – Thirst Bar Services will provide you with a theme of your choice.
