The Banqueting Hall

Few occasions rival the romance of a country wedding and The Windmills’ premier reception venue, The Banqueting Hall, is ideal for one of a kind celebrations. Overlooking our landscaped gardens, rolling lawns and gorgeous Chapel on the Lake, the Banqueting Hall combines our warm, country atmosphere with modern convenience.
The versatility of The Banqueting Hall allows for a wide range of floor plans. Depending on your requirements, it can seat a maximum of 180 guests or 150 guests if you want to include a dance floor – all without losing the feeling of intimacy. The room has a fully stocked built-in bar with the option of choosing a cash or account bar, and then there’s also a waiter service if this is preferred.
Our Banqueting Hall also features two massive built-in fireplaces so when the weather gets chilly, we stoke the fires, adding to the warm and cosy atmosphere.

Catering

At The Windmills our well-planned and appetising wedding menus are prepared by our talented chef, Joyce, who is building a solid reputation for The Windmills as a fine food establishment. Our culinary philosophy centres on pure, clear flavor and creating a sumptuous wedding feast that exudes passion in every bite.
To make your life easier, The Windmills has four standard menus catering to wedding receptions, specially designed to suit your taste, style, theme and more importantly, your budget. This means that whether you choose a five course plated extravaganza or finger food for a garden style cocktail reception, you will be able to build a menu that’s perfect for you.
At The Windmills, we source most of our produce from the Natal Midlands, thus ensuring that your wedding banquet reflects the character of the area. Our portions are generous, beautifully displayed and supported with a superior level of service.
We have found that for weddings, our buffet is a clear winner. Whatever you choose, you are guaranteed a lavish array of appetisers, melt-in-your-mouth meats, innovative vegetables, crisp salads and decadent desserts.
Or you also have the option to custom-build a wedding banquet from our a la carte menu that will delight even the most discerning of palates. We can also cater separately for special dietary requirements such as vegetarian, Halaal and Kosher guests. We have the magic Midlands Meander right on our doorstep. From historic landmarks and wildlife conservation to revitalising outdoor activities or “shop-till-you-drop” arts and crafts, The Midlands Meander really does have something for everyone.
Or why not get out into our great outdoors? We’ve got horse riding, hot air ballooning, canopy tours, quad biking or golf right here in the area. And with over 200 species of birds in the Midlands, it really is a twitcher’s paradise. If you’re more into hiking or mountain biking, the wide availability of guided routes will keep you busy.
Or you may just choose to relax. Enjoy the timeless rhythm of the landscape. Lounge around our swimming pool in the warmth of the country sun. Sink a few balls (and beers) as you enjoy a game of pool in the pub. It really is your choice.

If you’re a wildlife buff, you’re in for a real treat at The Windmills. We have exclusive use of the adjacent Blue Crane Private Game Reserve and you have the option of two game drives per day, leaving at 5am and 4pm. In addition to a huge variety of birds, the Game Reserve also gives you the the opportunity to see buck, zebra and wildebeest.

Fly fishing

The Natal Midlands is one of South Africa’s best fly fishing destinations and at The Windmills, we have three dams crammed with lazy trout! Guests are welcome to fish and day permits are also available – but please bring your own equipment.
