Diemersfontein Wine and Country Estate is a third generation working wine farm that keeps tradition and authenticity close to its heart, and where you can taste, stay, marry, learn and live. Framed within spectacular views and mountain ranges, the estate is located in the Cape Winelands in the Wellington valley, with close proximity to all major wine routes and only 50 minutes drive from Cape Town.
Specialising in red wines, Diemersfontein offers superb award-winning wines (renowned for its Pinotage, a uniquely South African cultivar), a la Carte cuisine at Seasons restaurant, comfortable accommodation set amongst the vineyards or overlooking the tranquil and stately gardens and secluded swimming pool, a fully equipped conference centre and a romantic garden setting for weddings.
Accommodation
Guests can enjoy bed and breakfast accommodation in any one of the 18 double bedrooms, all en suite, located around the 183 hectare wine farm. All rooms are furnished in a comfortable country style and are ideal for those preferring privacy and independence. There is an option of single or double beds throughout.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the facilities available at this wonderful third generation family estate. From leisurely lazing around the swimming pool, to horse riding, mountain bike trails and walks for the more energetic and wine tastings, you are ensured of an enjoyable and relaxing time at Diemersfontein.
Restaurant and Wine Tasting
Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be taken at Seasons, a contemporary restaurant with an a la Carte menu, that changes to reflect the best of what is available throughout our four seasons. Diemersfontein offers wine tasting, seven days a week between 10.00am and 5.00pm at Seasons Restaurant, and a pre-booked party of 8 or more people can participate in our grape harvest from late January to middle March. Food and wine pairing experience is also offered to a minimum of 6 people at Seasons Restaurant, at which our winemaker will enlighten guests as to the principles of matching food and wine.
Conference Centre
The Diemersfontein Conference Centre was once used as a fruit packing shed and has now been converted, retaining its rustic charm, to a well-equipped centre, with air-conditioning, a kitchen and other modern facilities. With its large veranda, overlooking horses grazing on the sloping pastures and farm lake, the centre can accommodate 80 delegates seated cinema-style, or 120 guests for dinner.
Team building activities are also on offer with a low-rope course, horse riding through the vineyards and mountain trails, trailer/tractor rides in the vineyard, bike riding and hikes, and the wine farm is located close to many nearby golf courses.
Weddings at Diemersfontein
A special occasion demands a particularly beautiful setting. For this reason Diemersfontein has become an extremely popular choice for bridal couples to take their vows and to enjoy their honeymoon. Recently awarded Best Venue in 2004, the wine farm provides a particularly enchanting setting for the most romantic event of your life.
The estate offers a unique opportunity for bridal couples and their families and friends to stay over and enjoy the festivities of this momentous occasion, not just for a few hours but for a night or two. For this reason Diemersfontein has become a favourite choice with overseas bridal parties. The bridal couple marrying at Diemersfontein can spend the first night of their honeymoon free of charge in the charming ‘Hanepoort’ cottage.
